Taking stock
I kind of went dark on social media in the last few months of 2017. I didn’t think people would care, but a few people said things to me which makes me think that some people might be paying attention.
I needed a little time to reflect and refocus because last year was a year of discovery. It was a year to hash things out and establish direction. Most importantly, it was a year of decisiveness. Big bets were placed and only time will tell if they were the right ones.
I am going to try to stay on top of things a little bit more moving forward, but here are the most important updates in my life:
- SBCS is rockin’ and rollin’. We have worked with over 1000 kids and the number keeps growing. We also have programs in Fort Wayne and Elkhart.
- A couple of years ago we started a cool project that we have kept in the dark. Just recently it has started to surface in some pretty cool ways. You’ll hear more about it in the near future.
- A year ago we developed a fundraising events platform (different from kickstarter or indiegogo) that helped the Center for the Homeless set fundraising records in St. Joe County. Last August we began opening that platform up to other organizations in our region. The platform is called GiveGrove and it has seen pretty solid adoption.
- I asked Alex Liggins to marry me. She said yes. Her willingness to marry me raises a lot of questions around her sanity, but I still love her.
- Over the last year #ourteam has pushed some boundaries, faced new challenges, tested limits, and seen a lot of growth. Our team has proven time and time again that it is the best team….not that I am biased or anything. I love them and I try to tell them that every day.
I am looking forward to this year. I think it’s going to be a good one. Hopefully I can stay present enough on social media to share the journey. Stay tuned!
